Dixie's puppies were born outside in a dog box, connected to the chain where their momma and their aunt spent their days. Dixie was a very diligent mama, keeping her babies safe and fed. However, there were some things she couldn't control. The rain water that had seeped into her dog box, and the fleas that were slowly sucking the life out of her and her puppies. We took them into the rescue the day we laid eyes on them, and got them the much needed veterinary care they needed.
Dixie was a great mom, and now her puppies are 8 weeks old. Big Bear is the biggest and fluffiest of the bunch. He is a mellow puppy who likes to keep order, but if tasked to play by one of his siblings, he doesn't turn down the opportunity to rough and tumble with them. He is also content to sleep in your lap. He is a sweet puppy who would love a home that will give him all of the training, patience, and love that he needs to become a great dog!
*Big Bear will not be up for placement until he has had his 2nd set of vaccinations (last week of November). You may fill out an application now if you are interested in adopting him. Because A Buddy For Life, Inc, has a strict spay/neuter policy, once approved for adoption, the puppies will still be property of the rescue while they live with you. We will be enforcing what we call "Foster to adopt". This means once you have an approved application, they will live with you until we can get them spayed/neutered/microchipped. Once this is done, final adoption paperwork can be signed.*
