Poor Maxi was turned in to the shelter with her two pack mates, who did not make it out of the shelter. She found herself all alone in a cold, scary shelter. When she arrived to us, she had scabbed areas on her elbows from the shelter floor and thinning patches of hair from the stress of her ordeal.

She was very scared and took a little time to warm up to her new foster family. She bonded with her foster mommy and human sister first, but has since gotten comfortable with her foster daddy and is becoming more at ease with her 7 year old human foster brother. She sometimes gets scared when he is active in the house, but will find her comfortable place to wait until things calm down. We think she may do better in a house with slightly older children because of this fear.

She tries to be a little bossy with some of the other dogs in the house and will growl if she is near her people and they come around. However, she is getting better with this the more she realizes she has nothing to fear. She is starting to relax more and more and has started playing with the other dogs.

She will still shy away from anyone who comes into the house that she does not know, but is warming up a lot faster than she did before.

She loves to snuggle and will shower you with kisses. She gets so excited when you come home that she jumps up and down and turns in circles. We aren't sure if it is because she is relieved that you actually came back to her or if this is just the way she always reacts, either way, you know she is so happy to see you and that is a wonderful greeting at the end of the day!

If you think you can give Maxi the little bit of time she will need to get to know you, please submit an application today! You won't be sorry and will gain a wonderful addition to your home!
