*Update Oct 2010* Dixie is doing great in her foster home and is slowly completing her mommy duties. Her pups are happy and healthy fuzzballs, and they are eating soft food on their own. Dixie is wonderful with other dogs, kids, and cats--she has all three in her foster home. She will be ready for adoption in a few more weeks. Once she has completely weaned her pups, she will be spayed. We have promised this momma that she will be a loving happy family pet again, not a milk machine.
Sept 2010: Dixie is a 2 year old Beagle mix who was given up along with her 7 three week old puppies and sister Pixie when her owner could no longer care for her. Dixie has spent the last year of her life outside, chained to a dog house. She gave birth to her babies outside in her dog house. Her babies were covered in fleas, and wet from the recent rain we have had. Dixie and her babies will not be available for adoption until sometime in late November/early December. She is new to the rescue, and is settling into her foster home, where she is enjoying the freedom from her chain and being an awesome mother to her babies.
