Tara is a very pretty girl with a soft, shiny coat and the cleanest, prettiest white teeth. She looks just like a perfect Black Lab but is only half the size, at 40 - 50 lbs full grown. She is adorable, sweet and very, very smart. She is both dog and cat friendly. In her foster home, she play-wrestles with her dog friends and just loves to cuddle on a chair with the cats. She is the perfect cat companion!
Tara is very well house-trained.
Tara has some special emotional needs because she is fearful. Tara fears new people, men in general and new noises. Her foster family is working to give her more exposure to new sounds, places and people in a safe environment. She has warmed up to her foster Daddy enough to cuddle with him on the sofa, sleep right next to him and give him kisses.
While she is fearul when meeting new people, she becomes very affectionate, happy and playful once she gets to know you. Within the first few days in her foster home, she was all wags and kisses.
Tara has gotten lost twice since joining our foster care program. First, she became frightened, pulled out of her foster Mom's hands while on a walk and was missing for 12 days. The second time, she escaped from the house and was missing for almost 36 hours. Tara needs extra care to keep her safe, such as a securely fenced yard with 6 foot privacy fence (with high quality gate latches because she is extra smart) and a strong, comfy crate when she is home alone.
Tara is a sweet and loving girl who deserves a forever home of her own with a dedicated family. She will appreciate a human companion with the patience to help her overcome her fears. We want to do whatever we can to ensure that this girl will remain safe and feel secure the rest of her life.
If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application and we can schedule a meeting with her.
