Saint was found as a stray on St Patrick's Day, hence the name Saint. Saint has been running stray for quite sometime, and everyone in the neighborhood took turns feeding him and giving him a place to lay his head at night on their porches. One kind woman even put an ad in the local paper with his picture trying to find his owner. One of our volunteers saw this ad and decided to call the nice lady who was trying to help him. She told us no one had come forward for him, and that he was still wandering the streets. She was able to bring him into her home and call us.
He has a painful condition of the eye called entropion, that cause his eyelashes to curl in and touch his eyeball. This is quite painful, and if left untreated, can cause corneal ulcers and blindness. Once he has his surgery, no further treatment is needed and he should not have any problems in the future.
If you are interested in Saint, drop us a line. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. We will post more as he settles into his foster home and we get to know him better.
Update- March 27, 2009
Saint had his surgery yesterday and is doing great. We can actually see his eyes now! You can tell he is feeling so much better. He gently jumps up on you like he is trying to give you a hug to say thank you. He is such a wonderful boy, so sweet even with the pain he must have been in. Thank you to Dr. Carletti for making this guy be able to see much better and pain free.
