Rommel is 3 years old and a real sweetheart! Rommel came to us from a shelter in Indiana. He went through heartworm treatment and is just waiting for his new family to take him home!

Rommel has been living with a trainer for the past few weeks because he had some confidence issues when meeting new people. He has made so much progress and is now ready to find his forever home. Here is an update from Rommel's foster mom/trainer: Rommel is an easy going dog. He loves to be petted and follow you from room to room. He is housebroken. He can be left in the house when you are gone. He does not chew things up or become destructive when left unattended. His energy level is not very high, but like any dog, he still needs exercise or he will get bored. He enjoys walks, swimming, and catching frisbees, especially if other dogs are doing it. He likes stuffed animals, will carry them around with him and he never chews them up. He loves to go camping and be outdoors.

He has learned how to sit at doorways to let people go first, sit and wait for his food until he released, walk politely on a leash and interact with multiple people with confidence. In order for him to maintain his progress he will still need basic obedience and strong, confident leader. He will still need to be taken out to meet people for the rest of his life or his socialization skills will deteriorate. He is good with other dogs, but big group situations with multiple dogs overwhelm him. He would be a great companion for a single person that lives alone, or could also be with a couple with no kids.

Rommel has been with us since October, first he had to go through his heartworm treatment and then he went to work with a trainer, and now he is just getting overlooked.
