Lunsford came to us from a shelter in Indiana that was full. He is about 3 years old. He did test positive for heartworms and will begin treatment soon. Please consider sponsoring poor Lunsford to help with his treatment.
This is what his foster mom has to say about him..
Lunsford is a sweet, affectionate, calm 3 yo neutered male hound-mix (lab ears, shepherd coat for example) from Indiana. No one there or here can understand why no one is adopting him; hes just 30 pounds of love. All he needs is a home with sofa privileges, an owner he can pad after and nudge for pets and hugs, and hell be happyand so will you!
Hes been in a foster home since arriving in Delaware on June 4 where he lives peaceably with two resident beagles and two cats. Hes a normal dog with the cats, often times inciting an attack with the other two dogs, but one-on-one with the cats, hes easily put in his place by their growling, hissing, and swiping.
Hes made great strides in just two weeks recognizing his name, being quick to sit on command, learning to stay and come. Hes very close to housebroken (hes NEVER pooped in the house and hasnt peed since the first week) and is crate-trained (its not his favorite place to go but once hes in there he curls up and goes to sleep). He sleeps at the foot of my bed all night long (and frankly is reluctant to rise even when I do!) and I often leave him out of his crate for as long as four hours during the day without coming home to accidents. As you can tell from his list of accomplishments, hes a quick and eager learner.
He walks well on a leash and is a good jogging partner for anyone whos not a speed demon. He has a slow but steady pace and doesnt take too many pee or sniffing breaks along the way. On the other hand, hes more than happy to slow things down and walk at your pace, whatever that may be. He doesnt eat garbage along the route eithera welcome difference from my beagles!
Hes not a rough and tumble boy, preferring a quiet, gentile life viewed from the comfort of the couch. He startles quite easilywere not sure what his background is but he was in the Indiana kennel for six months so his skiddishness is understandable. His perfect home would be relaxed and dependableprobably an active household with children would NOT be suitable for this guy.
Lunsford is simply a great dog and would easily adapt to a new family and routine. If you give this very deserving love-bug a forever home, you will be rewarded every moment of every day by his calm, steady companionship.
