We have been fostering Katie for almost two months now and love her to pieces! The only reason we can't be Katie's "forever family" is due to our already tight financial situation. Otherwise we wouldn't let her go. Katie is such a wonderful companion. She is best friends with our dog "Joey" and absolutely loves romping and wrestling with him. She does have dominant characteristics so the perfect buddy for her would be a dog that is either submissive or just has a laid back nature (preferrably male I think).
Katie is great off of a leash and responds very well to any command you give her. Squirrel chasing is her one weakness and until she's sure that squirrel will not come down from the tree she won't leave that tree's side. She is very untrusting at first with new people; however, give her time and she'll come around. It takes a little longer for her to be trusting with men than women but if you have the patience she has the love to give.
Favorite things: cuddling, kissing (both giving and receiving), belly rubs, playing, eating, exploring, car rides, and when she has the opportunity....rolling in some pretty smelly things (I take her to a farm every day and there are plenty of smelly things to get into there when I'm not looking.)-She's not quite as fond of baths however...but she's getting used to them.
She is wonderful with children and loves playing with other dogs (especially males). The only issue is to make sure the other dogs aren't aggressive toward her....Katie's defenses will go up if that happens she will get aggressive in return.
When left alone Katie is not destructive (just don't leave your kitchen trash out that has tasty smelling things in it), and can easily "hold it" for 8 hours. She has so much energy that a mom, dad, brother, or sister that can play with her every day would make her so happy. (She loves hide and seek.)
Everyone who meets her absolutely falls in love with her. She is incredibly smart, easily trainable, and just wants a family and a place to call her "forever home". Give her a chance and I know you will fall in love with her too!!!
