Bunny is a young girl who found herself stray. One of our foster moms was called to her rescue, and when she arrived to get Bunny, Bunny was extremely scared and cautious of the humans around her. She was never aggressive, in fact, she would hunch her whole body to the ground and cower away. She wouldn't go very far though, almost like she wanted to trust a human, but just couldn't bring herself to do it.
After a while of coaxing her with yummy treats, which she so desperately wanted, we were able to get a slip leash around her neck and lead her to safety. Bunny was starving, skinny, dirty, and petrified.
She has been with us now for a little over a week and is making great strides. She loves to play with her four legged brothers, but common house hold noises and going ons still scare her at first. She is now starting to trust her foster mom and is starting to come close for love and attention. Bunny will need a patient, kind owner to show her that humans are good. Bunny would like to go to a home with other dogs. It seems to help her be more comfortable. We are working on her house breaking skills, as I think she has lived the majority of her young life outside. She is non destructive when left alone. If you have any specific questions about Bunny or may be interested in meeting her, please fill out an application or email jenn@abuddyforlife.org. We will post more info about her as we get to know her more!
Update 10/09: Bunny is doing great. She goes into her kennel nicely and enjoys a good chewy boney. She trusts her foster mom more and more each day, and dances excitedly around the room when she comes home. She is relaxing more and more each day as her foster mom sits down and pets her. She will need a calm, loving, patient owner to continue to work with her so that she can learn to trust completely.
*Please note, all pit bull adoptions require that applicants own their home, and live within a 3 hour drive from Delaware. Exceptions to this rule can be made at the discretion of the rescue.*
