1st Annual Delaware Week for the Animals

A Week of Festivities and Events for the Animals
~ Sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society ~
Best Friends Animal Society, a major national humane organization whose philosophy is Kindness to Animals Builds a Better World for All of Us, is presenting a special week-long series of events in Delaware this spring. The 1st Annual Delaware Week for the Animals will be held from April 19th -27th, 2008, and is designed to celebrate the love and joy that animals bring to our lives.

SUNDAY APRIL 20th; 'ANIMAL APPRECIATION DAY"
"SPRING FESTIVAL AND PET ADOPTION FAIR at KILLENS POND STATE PARK" *Hosted by Kent County SPCA* 11am to 4pm -FREE and Open to All!
Killens Pond State Park is located in Felton, DE near the center of the state,
just off Route 13 between Harrington and Dover.

YAPPY HOUR:
Thursday, April 24 5-8pm
Come check out downtown Wilmington's newest and coolest bistro and bar and help raise money for A Buddy for Life, Inc. Please join them at The Ameritage, located on the corner of 9th and Orange Streets, on Thursday, April 24th, from 5pm to 8pm for Yappy Hour and Silent Auction. $15 admission, $10 admission if you bring an unopened package of dog treats or biscuits (to be donated to rural animal shelters A Buddy for Life supports)." There will be free hors d'oeuvres and reduced drink prices. Also, Special Guest Bonnie Silva, author/producer of the book "Fifteen Legs" and documentary "Fifteen Legs," will be there, with copies of her book available for purchase and to be autographed.
Make a night of it in downtown Wilmington and stop by the yappy hour, meet Bonnie, and then stop by Theatre N a block away and view two fascinating and informative films.
FILM SHOWINGS:
"Fifteen Legs" will be shown at 7:45pm. Free admission!
"The Witness" will be shown at 8:30pm. Free admission!

"Fifteen Legs" - 7:45pm -Inspiring documentary by author/producer Bonnie Silva on the underground 'rescue railraod' -People across the country,connecting online and arranging drivers to each drive about an hour - a "leg" of a carefully planned trip - all to save an animal from certain death at a high-kill shelter in one state, and transport the lucky creature to a new life and home miles away in another state.
This engrossing film also has a forward by renowned No Kill advocate Nathan Winograd, and footage of Diane Trull and the 'No Kill Kids' of Texas.

*We are delighted and honored that Film Producer and Author Bonnie Silva will be in downtown Wilmington Thursday evening April 24th prior to the film screening for a booksigning at The Ameritage.
